It’s become our most requested portrait location, people come from all around the world to see it, we too have an obsession with Big Sur. Last week we drove the gorgeous coastline with Amandarose and Jonathan who wanted couples portraits just because, and we loved that! There doesn’t need to be a reason to celebrate love between two people. Plus these two are absolutely stunning, dressed head to toe in top designer fashion from Monique Lhuillier and Badgley Mischka, we loved having them in front of our lens. They danced, spun, and snuggled until sunset. When I brought up a lift, they hinted of knowing how to reenact the one from Dirty Dancing. Challenge accepted, and you will see below the amazing outcome.
My heart does ache while I write this though. Big Sur holds a special place in our heart. It’s a place like no other, to escape, relax, and enjoy a magical setting. We’ve witnesses so many proposals, elopements, and engagements right here. So many wonderful moments we will never forget. A few days ago a fire sparked in Soberanes Creek at Garrapta State Park, within a few thousand feet from right where this session was captured. It’s grown so rapidly because of the drought, the flames sweet up the dry brush hillside quicker than firefighters can keep up with. Homes have been lost, communities are still being evacuated, it’s hard to believe this is happening so close to home.
Today we went outside to the bright orange smokey skies, and ash falling like snowflakes. Our prayers go out to all those who’s homes have been lost or in danger, and to the firefighters, both on ground and in the air, for risking their own lives, to save others. Our obsession with Big Sur will continue, and once the flames have subsided, we will roam this stunning shoreline again.
