One of the most common questions we get asked from photographers is, “What’s in your bag?” I remember when we teetered on the fence with is photography something we could do professionally or is it just an expensive hobby. Back then we were second shooting a lot of weddings rocking our Canon Rebel T3i’s and kit lenses. Honestly though, we wouldn’t go back and change a thing. Those were our stepping stones that have gotten us where we are today and we are still very proud of some of those images. Currently we are both shooting with Canon Mark III camera bodies.

The 35 mm f/1.4L is the lens that I use more often than Laura. I used it to capture invitation suites, pre-ceremony, during the couples portraits, and sometimes even for family formals if the grouping is very large. No matter what I’m shooting though, this lens always captures the big picture and is the widest angle lens we have.

The 100mm f/2.8 Macro is my FAVORITE! While Laura loves her couples portrait time, my dream time is spent capturing the details before the day even gets started. The flowers, rings, invitations, jewelry, perfume, shoes…. and when we purchased the 100mm, it took our detail shots up to the next level!

Laura’s go to lens 90% of the time is the 50mm f/1.2L. It captures the perfect bokeh and creaminess! Last year we upgraded from the Canon EF 50mm 1.4 to this baby, and WOW, what a game changer!

Last, but surely not least is our big boy, the 70-200mm 2.8L. Hands down the must-have wedding ceremony lens. This lens allows us to capture the most intimate of details, yet keeping a nice distance where no one feels we’re invading personal space. This lens is also ideal for first looks and surprise proposals!

We both use the Speedlight 600EX-RT flashes. These lens are perfect for indoor receptions both on and off camera.
