WELCOME TO THE BLOG OF
LAURA & RACHEL
FIND IT FAST
It all began with an email. Daniel was in flying from Dallas, to vacation with his girlfriend Julia, in Big Sur. He wanted a week full of adventurous hikes, local beaches, and romantic sunsets the Pacific Ocean had to offer. Most of all, he wanted to propose! Daniel had seen what we had done for Greg & Vanessa, and wanted us create something ultra special for Julia. We let the creativity flow! A dreamy sweetheart table with overflowing florals, hors d’oeuvres, dessert, and champagne, overlooking the ocean. Sounds perfect, right? The weeks leading up to their arrival we exchanged emails finalizing all the details, but what I was watching closely was the weather. Their proposal date called for rain. Being the over planners we are, we had to have a plan B ready, because obviously a table setting on the beach in a storm wasn’t the best idea.
It was the morning of, and Daniel was waiting for the text from me saying Plan A or Plan B. We waited as long as we could to make the call, but Plan B was the only option. Still keeping his dream of an oceanfront proposal, but having an romantic covered area surprise, we found a little hidden gazebo. It has a covered roof, but all four sides we exposed to the elements so we were still nervous, but we were going to do anything to make this amazingly special. Rachel and I pulled up along side of the road, realizing the gazebo was a much farther walk than we remembered. We turned off the engine as the skies opened up and began to pour. Like we couldn’t see the car in front of us pour. We sat there for a second looking at each other, neither of us wanting to open the door, none the less get out in it. All we could do is laugh at ourselves. We had an hour before Daniel and Julia’s arrival, and we had a lot of set up to do.
We opened up our golf size umbrellas and took trips to and from the gazebo carrying a table, decor, florals, vintage rentals, champagne, food, and a cake. Just imagine this for a second. People must have though we were insane, but we did it! We stepped back and admired what we had just done in the midst of a torrential downpour, and were amazed. It was perfect! They arrived right on time. Rachel and I took our places and were admiring the enormous ocean waves, looking like your typical tourist, just soaked from head to toe. They were in the car for a few minutes, we knew he was trying to convince her to get out during this crazy storm. Somehow he did it, and made their way right to where the ocean waves kissed the rocky shore. As the wind gusted so hard it flipped Julia’s umbrella inside out, mud and all, Daniel went down on one knee pledging his love, and asking for her hand in marriage. She said yes, they embraced without a care in the world of the weather around them, and they spent a few minutes letting it all soak in (pun intended). Once we were pointed out, and tears were dried, we guided them to the surprise we had waiting. Here is what unfolded…
The rain stopped just in enough time for a few sunset portraits!
We came, and we conquered. It was epic!
Many thanks to this amazing creative team who helped bring this proposal to life…
