McLeod Plantation Wedding | A large family equals a large wedding, which means lots and lots of planning. Michelle reached out to us just a few days before their arrival in Charleston. They had been engaged for awhile and wedding plans were in full effect back home in Florida. They’re minimal idealistic vision had slowly faded away.
They knew we were available and were here to help then plan what was needed. We were actually on the phone with Michelle on their way to Charleston, planning their elopement for the very next day! She had bought a dress and rings, took our advise on a lovely 37 acre venue and rented out the entire McLeod Plantation for the afternoon, and we found her an amazing officiant and hair and makeup. Everything came together like it was just meant to be.
We arrived to the to the main house and climbed the curved wooden staircase, passing the french doors at the half way point, that over looked the oak tree lined driveway. With every creek of the floorboards, you could just feel the rich history this plantation preserved. Michelle was in one room, Jason in another, but sweetly came together for the finishing touches. Jason helped zip up her dress, pin her necklace, and softly slip on her veil. It was an absolute sweet moment that unless you’re eloping, couples don’t experience.
One hand in Jason’s, the other holding her dress, Michelle made her way down the staircase to the front porch. The light was just breathtaking! We walked the nearly acre long driveway for couples portraits, and laughed until our bellies hurt nearly the entire time. We had so much fun with these two!
Once joined by the officiant, we walked the tree groves of the plantation. Right below the sweeping oak allée, the McLeod Oak, which is thought to be more than 600 years old. trees, and beneath the magical hanging moss, these two shared vows promising their love to one another for eternity. It was absolutely perfect!
Congratulations Jason and Michelle! It was our honor to capture your McLeod Plantation wedding!
