This Carmel engagement session was a year in the making. Early last year we had the honor of capturing the most beautiful Bernardus Lodge wedding. Little did we know, Starlene, maid of honor and sister of the bride, would get engaged herself a year later and reach out to us to capture her wedding. Better than that, her wedding is in Puerto Rico!!!

Starlene and Daniel drove up from Los Angeles to have their engagement session captured in the Monterey Bay area where Starlene was raised. We started along the cliffs of Big Sur, walking along narrow paths, not for the weak at heart. Daniel was a bit hesitant, but eventually found his own way, joining us at the point where the waves were crashing below so forcefully, we could practically feel them slapping the rocks beneath us. This is where we officially met the comedic side of Daniel. From that moment on for the rest of the evening, not a minute went by without us all bursting into laughter!

Love and Flowers by Angie created the most STUNNING bouquet filled with peonies, scabiosas, ranunculus, dahlias, and veronicas, just to name a few. Angie definitely knows our love language! How this bouquet went so perfectly with both her dresses still amazes us.

As the sun was setting we made our way down the pacific coast highway to Carmel, and a secluded beach known mostly by locals. Surrounded by exposed river rocks, historic Cypress trees, aged drift wood, and tall sea grass, these two danced in their own world, making it extremely easy to capture their love. They truly believe a relationship means that you come together to make each other better. Believe in each other. Support each other. Build each other.

Starlene and Daniel, we cannot wait to be Puerto Rico bound with you guys next year and capture your unbelievably gorgeous wedding! Congratulations!!!
