Kiawah Island Engagement Session | Summers in Charleston can be tricky when it comes to the weather. Not only is it hot and humid, but there are always the late afternoon showers you have to look out for. That can be a bit difficult when planning a portrait session. On the flip side, the overcast cloudy skies make for unbelievable portraits!
Shellie and Braydon wanted to escape West Virginia for the coast, landing in the Charleston area for the week. Newley engaged, they thought there couldn’t be more of a perfect place than a Kiawah Island engagement session while in town. Just steps out of their beach house, a wooden boardwalk lined their walkway to one of the most spectacular beaches of all time, Kiawah Island. As photographers, it’s the dreamiest beach for portrait sessions!
As we walked past the seagrass, the smell of the Atlantic ocean filled the air. Funny, you might not think about it if you haven’t experienced both coasts, but the Pacific and Atlantic oceans smell similar, but different in a very unique way. As the laughing gulls flew overhead, Shellie and Braydon walked, laughed, and embraced, as if we weren’t even there. You can tell from the portraits below, that these two so deeply in love, enjoy the simplest of things of just being in each other’s presence.
Strolling hand in hand from the sand dunes to the water’s edge, the chemistry between these two was unimaginable. With sand between their toes, they cuddled, kissed, and welcomed the cool breeze the ocean was offering. As we made our way down the beach, with the tide slowly rising, the water splashed as it lapped against their skin. These two would have danced in the ocean until the sun had set, and as the session came to end, Braydon carried Shellie towards the boardwalk home. This Kiawah Island engagement session will never be forgotten. Congratulations you two!
