Charleston’s coastline never disappoints, and Maddie and Trent’s maternity beach sunset session was pure Lowcountry magic from start to finish. We’ve been lucky enough to photograph every chapter of their story here in the Lowcountry — first their engagement session, then their wedding day at Boone Hall, and now this sweet season as they await their baby girl. Getting to walk alongside a couple through so many milestones is one of the greatest gifts of what we do, and this session felt like the most beautiful full-circle moment.

The evening greeted us with a warm, gentle breeze, soft golden light, and pastel skies that looked straight out of a watercolor painting. As the sun dipped closer to the horizon, the sky turned every shade of cotton candy — soft pinks, lavenders, and delicate blues melting into the Atlantic and reflecting on the wet sand. We wandered along the shoreline near the lighthouse, surrounded by swaying seagrass, quiet dunes, and that peaceful ocean hush that makes a Charleston beach maternity session feel instantly calm and intimate. Maddie absolutely glowed, her joy radiating in every frame, and Trent couldn’t stop smiling at her with that proud, tender “we’re really doing this” kind of look.

Maddie’s look was effortlessly coastal and elegant, and her beauty was perfectly polished thanks to her makeup by Lashes and Lace. The soft, romantic glam held up beautifully in the sea breeze and sunset light, adding just the right touch of timeless sophistication to these Charleston maternity photos. Between her flowing dress, the warm tones of golden hour, and the dreamy shoreline backdrop, every detail came together in the most natural, meaningful way.

We captured the session both digitally and on 35mm film, and the combination was pure magic. Digital gave us crisp color and sweeping coastal views, while film brought a nostalgic, grainy romance that feels timeless and true.
