We thought it was quite fitting with the news coming today, national South Carolina Day! Just when you thought we didn’t have any more surprises up our sleeves, this has been the summer of life-changing announcements! First was there’s a baby coming, then we announced we are moving to South Carolina (still accepting weddings from the West Coast and beyond), we found out the baby is going to be a girl, and now… we’ve bought a house! When we were there last it was a only a dirt lot, but to a new home owner, this is the most beautiful dirt in the world!

A plot of land rich in history and quadruple the size you would find in California. A hundred year oak tree in the front yard that will shade years of porch swing conversations, and a natural boundary around the home of woods and wetlands that will bring hours of exploration from children and grandchildren. Without our feet yet on the ground on the East Coast, we have to live for the weekly iPhone photos from the builder, where we do a little happy dance together. We’ve celebrated permit approvals, foundation poured, and now the framing is complete, and they’re starting the roof! Paul leading the way with blue prints and “techie” things, Rachel enjoying her time in the design center choosing every upgrade possible!

In only two short months, we will be handed the keys to what may only look like four walls, but to us, this is a new beginning, a new adventure, and what we will make a home. This home will be filled with baby’s first steps, doggos, sweet tea, southern cooking, laughter, tears, graduations, but mostly love. This is so much more to than wood and nails, this is home. We are so blessed to announce The Bench House, coming Fall 2018!
