Upstairs at Midtown Charleston Wedding | Who would have imagined how 2020 would affect the wedding world. From couples planning their big day, to small businesses shaken to their core, wondering when and if the wedding industry would ever get back to the way it was.
Rawan and Omar had a June 2020 wedding planned. Everything was going super smoothly, all the planning done way in advance, since both of them were students with heavy workloads, and wanted to make sure nothing was missed. Omar, who is attending college in Ohio, flew in one weekend for their engagement session in early 2020, and we immediately knew we all would be the best of friends.
Soon after their engagement session, with COVID spreading like wildfire, business were not only shutting their doors, but the ones that did stay open didn’t allow for group gatherings. That put quite the damper on a wedding.
Quickly their June 2020 became January 2021 wedding. They did let us in on a little secret though… they weren’t going to wait to get married, just to celebrate. So on their original wedding date in June, dressed in a gown and tux and a private ceremony, they became husband and wife. We met them along the waters edge of Folly Beach and captured the most beautiful private husband and wife session, something they will treasure forever.
Fast forward seven months, their big celebration day was here! We arrived at the Lashes and Lace on site bridal suite where all the girls were getting ready. Details! Details! Details! Rawan was just the perfect bride, thinking of all the details she wanted for her big day, having them all set aside when we arrived.
From there we escaped to White Point Garden, where the rest of family and the wedding party was waiting. We captured the sweetest of first looks beneath the ancient old oak trees before our afternoon stroll throughout Charleston for the most amazing two hours of portraits. You heard right! Because these two had already gotten married, they forgoed a ceremony, opening all that time up for couples photos! From the dock of Waterfront Park, the cobble stone roads of Chalmers Street, and so much more in-between, we will never forget our precious time with these two.
Now it was time to celebrate! From their 200+ person wedding, to their COVID friendly 35 person festivity, this entire wedding couldn’t have been more perfect! Quaint but formal dinner, rooftop dancing, to a grand sparkler exit, their enter Upstairs and Midtown wedding was perfect from beginning to end. Congratulations Omar & Rawan!
