It’s the moment we have all dreamt of. Being completely swept away by a romantic surprise sunset proposal from the one person you love the most in the world. If you are anything like us you have known ever since you were little, exactly how you want the one to pop the question. For this couple, it only made sense that they take the next step while riding into the sunset on horses. So hold on tight because we are going to take you on the most romantic journey of a surprise sunset proposal you have ever seen.

The gears began turning. How were we going to Courtney on one of the only beaches that allowed horses, miles from anywhere else, super secluded, and so beautiful?

Cody had a plan. He had hired someone who owned horses that you could rent to ride along the beach. Now came the fun part of pulling it all together and we weren’t only photographers on this big day, we had to pull out our acting skills as well (which we both we sure we didn’t have! LOL)

We arrived early and met the man who owned the equestrian center and explained to him what was about to happen. He kindly walked the horses over the mountainous sand dunes as we carried all all that was needed for the picnic surprise afterwards. After the picnic was set up we added the florals to the horses created by the amazing Love and Flowers by Angie and now it was game time.

What you don’t know is Cody and Courtney met being surrounded by horses. Courtney a professional rider, Cody an equestrian photographer. Cody knew that if she saw horses on the beach, she would just have to stop and meet them, now we just prayed all would fall in to place.

Cody and Courtney appeared over the sand dunes and slowly began walking our way. Rachel and I were taking photos of the floral covered horses, when right on cue we here a girls voice ask if she could pet them. Of course we obliged, little did she know she was falling right into our plan. We started with small talk and she told us how she rode professionally, we shared our sad story that we had everything set up and we were waiting for our model to show up that was really late and we hadn’t heard from her. Then we asked her the favor… would she mind filling in for our model and posing for a few shots with the horses. She was more that ecstatic for the opportunity and we began posing and guiding her through what we “needed”. Then…

We had her turned away facing the ocean, giving Cody enough time to this, before we asked her to turn around.

Absolute perfection and she never saw it coming! We were pretty sure we deserved an Oscar for our acting performance in this Monterey proposal! We then toasted to start the celebration and watched as they rode off into the sunset. Now this is what you call a dream come true!
