Boone Hall Plantation Engagement | When you imagine Charleston, two types of consequential images probably come to mind. Long dirt roads surrounded by ancient low hanging mossy trees, with long wooden docks overlooking the marshland that eventually lead to the ocean, or historic pastel colored structures with window boxes always in bloom, encompassed by cobblestone streets, and the sounds of horse drawn carriages still running to this day. This is exactly what Joanna and Jeff wanted for their engagement sessions.

Traveling all the way from an Illinois winter, Joanna and Jeff escaped the below freezing temperatures to visit Charleston, thinking visiting the Low Country would be just what they needed to warm up. Well, even though it wasn’t in the teens which it was at home, their winter visit for their Boone Hall Plantation engagement session never warmed up above 35 (burrrrrr!) You can’t even tell from their portraits since we had these two moving, snuggling, and sipping champagne!

Joanna and Jeff booked Boone Hall Plantation as their wedding venue sight unseen, but it did not disappoint! We had the honor of walking through their venue together for their first time, photographing ever adorable location along the way. The Avenue of the Oaks is a ¾ mile of 270 year old giant live oaks, an ancient gate leading to the mansion that is ringed by their famous year-round showcase garden that is always in bloom, gorgeous butterfly pavilion, and we ended at the Cotton Dock nestled in a majestic setting on a tidal marsh where their actual wedding will take place.

Joanna and Jeff, we had an absolute DREAM day with you two and we cannot wait to capture your Boone Hall Plantation wedding this fall!
