Historic Downtown Charleston Proposal | All this planning begin with an Instagram message. John and Kathleen were planning a trip to Charleston to escape the business of home in Boston and John wanted to propose! Eeeeeekkkk! We love nothing more than to be with our couples capturing day one of their forever together!
John wanted the look of historic Charleston and we knew just the place! Latitude Lane, with its old charm, paved in cobblestone, overgrown ivy walls, and low hanging mossy trees, it was absolutely perfect in every way!
We were in place and of course that’s when our nerves kick in. John arrived right on time and as they walked past us, I gave him the smile and nod we were ready. Making it seem like a casual turn down a beautiful alleyway, the next moment he was down on one knee, and Kathleen was blown away. Little did she know, this wasn’t the only surprise of the day. After this gorgeous proposal and portraits around Rainbow Row, we walked the block to Waterfront Park where photos were to continue.
Along the windy paths, in the mist of a grassy area tucked beneath an oak tree, was a romantic picnic set up. Her favorite color flowers from Rosebay Floral, flowerless chocolate cake baked by yours truly, and a gorgeous champagne bottle on ice created by Holy City Handwriting. Perfection! We stopped long enough to pop the bubbly and cheers to forever, before continuing portraits along the waterfront.
Congratulations John and Kathleen! We can’t wait to hear about wedding plans!

Together, we have worked in the wedding industry for over a decade, and make up one incredibly unique mother-daughter fine art wedding photography team. We have documented weddings from the breathtaking West Coast, to the historic East, and have had our work published internationally both in print and online. Our wanderlust hearts have taken us all over the country, capturing love stories, and visiting quaint hometown coffee shops along the way, and even though we've spent most of our lives in a nautical California town, we now call South Carolina home, expanding to the low country of Charleston.
