Charleston Proposal at Folly Beach | We’re sure we sound like a broken record by always saying how much we love capturing a proposal. Over the past few years, we’ve captured 65 proposals. 65! That is a lot of nerves, anticipation, down on one knee moments, we’ve been able to be a part of and capture from California to South Carolina!
When we received the email from Nick that he wanted to propose to Allyson on the beach with a picnic surprise ending, we knew she was one lucky lady! Charleston is surrounded by water, but funny it doesn’t have many actual beach areas, unless you visit the nearby towns. This made a Folly Beach proposal a must! The long white sandy shores, rock jetties into the Atlantic, sea grass and beach houses as far as the eye can see.
We arrived early and set up the picnic, hidden just behind the jetties to ensure nothing would be seen as they walked the boardwalk towards the water. We nodded at Nick and he knew we were all set. They took a stroll down the beach for a little while, and on their way back, right long the waters edge, he was down on one knee. Perfection!
After a few private moments of surprise, happiness, and tears, Nick pointed us out. The look on Allyson’s face was priceless! In complete shock, and air hugs (thanks COVID), we captured some couples portraits before we ended by popping champagne and cheersing to forever. Congratulations Nick and Allyson!

Together, we have worked in the wedding industry for over a decade, and make up one incredibly unique mother-daughter fine art wedding photography team. We have documented weddings from the breathtaking West Coast, to the historic East, and have had our work published internationally both in print and online. Our wanderlust hearts have taken us all over the country, capturing love stories, and visiting quaint hometown coffee shops along the way, and even though we've spent most of our lives in a nautical California town, we now call South Carolina home, expanding to the low country of Charleston.
