Middleton Place Proposal | Twenty-four short hours. That’s how long we had to plan, prepare, and pull off this GORGEOUS Middleton Place proposal. You may remember Tyler and Taylor from their portrait session a few years ago, and you can read more about their story there. Short story, Tyler is Laura’s stepson, Rachel’s step-brother, but blood isn’t needed to become family.
Tyler started talking about his proposal a few years ago, with these two being high school sweethearts, he knew it was coming. Fast forward a few years, Tyler told us the ring was ordered. Not knowing exactly when the ring would be ready, we could somewhat plan, but nothing was set in stone. Until… he got the call. The ring was ready and he was headed to pick it up after work. That’s when we got the call. Tomorrow was the proposal. TOMORROW!?!?! Yes, he had the ring in hand, and in 24 hours we wanted to propose.
No big deal. We didn’t freak out at all. Yeah, right! At least we had somewhat of a plan, but the next day was all about shopping for the special picnic and securing the venue. By lunch everything was ready. Tyler was getting off early and heading to Laura’s to prepare. Now the tricky part, getting Taylor there without question. She knows us. She knows we capture proposals all the time. We couldn’t be the average “blend in with the tourist” disguise since she knew us. Then it hit us.
We work with a local dress designer and do fashion shoots for her nearly monthly, in which Taylor had modeled for us in the past. That was it! Laura jumped on the phone and gave Taylor all the info about the “modeling session” she was going to be a part of that evening.
Laura met Taylor in the parking area of Middleton Place. It was a hot 90-degree day and after getting Tyler in position, and setting up the picnic surprise, we were melting! Taylor and Laura walked to the water’s edge where the “modeling session” was going to be taking place. Rachel and Tyler were in position and ready. Laura talked Taylor’s ear off, distracting her to look in the other direction, as they started to head down the stairs, to where below the low hanging mossy tree, along the edge of the Ashely River where the movie The Notebook was filmed, was an area filled of scattered red rose petals.
We watched it take place as if it was in slow motion. We had the plan she would continue down the stairs and Tyler would meet her on the bed of rose petals, but she froze, one hand covering her mouth. Rachel softly nudged her to keep walking, and in that millisecond, Taylor knew what was happening. With her hand still over her mouth in disbelief, slowly ran to Tyler, and the rest is history. Congratulations you two! Looks like we’re adding another girl to the family!
Look at the smile of relief!
